Butikiro Eco Farms Uganda Ltd is a medium-sized company located in central Uganda focusing on upscaling the production and marketing of high value crops that command premium prices in the domestic and export markets and offer higher net returns per unit area of production. These include, but not limited to, fruits (avocado, apple, mango and pineapple), nuts (macadamia and cashew nut), beverages (coffee and cocoa) as well as vegetables and culinary spices (including chilli, rosemary, onion, garlic and ginger).

The company has been in existence since 2019 and currently has five nucleus farms located in Mukono district at Nsonga village (dedicated to Hass avocado) and in Kyankwanzi district at Kanabugoma village (dedicated to Hass avocado), Kitabona village (dedicated to macadamia and coffee), Gayaza village (dedicated to cashew nut) and at Kisekende village (with various crops, including macadamia, cashew nut, mango and rosemary) .

As our outgrower partner with Butikiro Eco Farms Uganda, we: (a) Assist you to access high quality planting material and agricultural inputs; (b) Offer you training and extension support on good agricultural practices; (c) Assist you to improve your crop nutrition and protection for quality products; (d) Support you to meet the market quality standards and requirements; (e) Facilitate you to access aggregation centres, pack houses & cold-chain infrastructure; (f) Assist you to access premium markets for your products; and (g) Assist you to participate in study trips to successful farmers for benchmarking.
To join our outgrower programme, you must: (a) Be ready to engage in farming as a business and not just for subsistence; (b) Be open to engage in value chains fetching premium prices; (c) Have at least 5 acres of arable land; and (d) Be ready to adopt good agricultural practices and produce high quality products.

Extension support

We offer extension support services, training and capacity-building programs to our outgrower farmers, promoting the adoption of good agricultural practices and support them to improve the productivity, quality and sustainability of their crops. We encourage and guide farmers to adopt precision agriculture and climate-smart technologies, including drip irrigation systems, to boost production and productivity

Farmer Training

We conduct trainings and on-farm demonstrations to educate farmers on good agricultural practices, including integrated pest management, regenerative farming practices such as intercropping, crop rotation, cover cropping, mulching, composting, minimum tillage which help to increase soil organic matter; soil erosion control, soil health maintenance and other practices that help to increase productivity while ensuring sustainability of the farms

Access to technologies and innovative solutions

We facilitate access to relevant technologies and innovations, including climate-smart and precision agriculture technologies, to help to improve production and productivity, to increase water-use efficiency and also assist farmers to effectively control of weeds, pests and diseases

Market Access Facilitation

We link our outgrower farmers to premium domestic and export markets in order to improve their incomes and livelihoods. We also support them to meet the quality standards and requirements for domestic and export markets and acquire GlobalGAP and other certifications. We also facilitate them to access aggregation centres and pack houses with cold-chain infrastructure to minimize post-harvest losses and ensure consistency in the quality of their produce
